Scrapped Pokemon Pinball DS

There had been plans for another sequel (Threequal? Triqual??) for Gen 4 on the DS. Rather than have a flipping screen or a camera to follow the pinball, the duel screen would be able to keep the ball visible, whether it was at the top or bottom of the field. A demo was commissioned by Nintendo, but the project was cancelled soon afterwards.

According to DYKG, who apparently managed to speak with one of the developers, the game’s objective was to capture and build a Pokémon team (with methods quite like the previous two games) to take on the gyms. When battling the gym leaders, you’d use the pinball to hit targets and build up your pokemon’s attack, but the gym leader would do the same when they got control of the ball. More information can be found on DYKG’s video

I wish there had been another pinball game, but it’s easy to see why the relatively poor sales of the first two put Nintendo off. At least romhacks are slowly coming through for the two we have, such Generations and Speedchoice. I’ve link a very interesting video on the uncovered mechanics of R&S that had been previously unknown (or partly correct as a rumour) on R&S's page, all thanks to the hard work of people translating and reverse engineering the code ~
