Pokemon Pinball is, in my opinion, a very underrated spin-off game. It began in 1999 with the original Pokemon Pinball on the Gameboy Colour, and included the first 151 pokemon (Although Mew was famously known for being impossible to catch without cheating) and two different fields (Red and Blue). The name of the game, literally, was to use a pinball to fill in the pokedex, by either capturing or evolving the pokemon found in different areas. Racking a high enough score will put your name on the leaderboards.
I’ve played a bit of the game, including a recent RomHack that included Gen 2’s pokedex and unique fields to play with, but most of my time was spent playing the sequel.
I’ve yet to play through the romhack, but when I do, I hope to add my thoughts here
