I assume you know what shiny hunting is about- Hunting for a rare, shiny variant of a Pokemon, although the actual rarity can range between 1/8192 to 1/10 (with the odd eff method in pokemon crystal). For me, shiny hunting is fun because it's not a difficult hobby to do (It's tedious at worst), it keeps my hands and brain busy enough without draining my focus, it involves Pokémon (life-long special interest), and it connects me to a community of amazing, like-minded folk.

First halloween-y shiny capture of 2024, and named after my dog. I love the Poochyena line so much, and I'm not even entirely sure why. When I was a very young child, I begged my mum to let me adopt a poochyena as a pet, not quite realising that pokemon aren't real. I even drew pictures of me looking after one to prove my responsibility, but it didn't work. Shockingly.

Another SOS that took WAY too long, and gengar’s shiny sprite made it so hard to see- I nearly missed it! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻. Then again, you watch some shiny videos with 15k+ encounters and feel slightly more grateful for getting a shiny in less than 1k encounters.

Fastest, non-random hunt so far! In Pokemon Crystal, the daycare man will give you a free egg that will hatch one of the new baby pokemons. On top of a free 'mon, the shiny rate is also increased.
