Although I definitely don't hate any of the Gen 1 starters, Bulbasaur has always been my favourite. I think grass types deserve more love, especially in the games with so many weaknesses, and bulbasaur is no exception. He's SUCH a great pokemon to be literally #001 because something about his design is peak early gen 2 me. He's a perfect mix of adorable but monstrous, recognisable as an animal but fascinating as a brand new species, and definitely something you'd find as a kid's pet but also find in your garden at dusk.
Also being able to get a bulbasaur so early in X and Y is like a dream to me <3 Though I'll be real, I always preferred them when they looked more blue-ish than purely green
Growlithe and Arcanine are THE Dog pokemon, there's no denying it. If Pokemon were real, I'd want a Growlithe for a companion, and I'd imagine they would be a very popular Pokemon to raise. Housing an Arcanine would probably be difficult considering their size, like Clifford the Big Red Dog. I wonder if the Pokemon World would have Clifford the Big Red Arcanine.
Also you can tell that Arcanine was originally considered to be a legendary/ very special pokemon by it's design (≧◡≦)
The Eeveelutions are some of the most iconic pokemon lines, with eevee being a secondary mascot next to Pikachu. As a kid, I loved saving my game after getting Eevee in the Celadon mansion and testing the evolution stones to see what new critter I’d get, and my favourite was Vaporeon. I think I just loved it’s design and it’s beautiful cry, but I certainly did not dislike Jolteon or Flareon, or even the normal-type Eevee.
It was a great idea to have such an adaptable pokemon. Even Eevee is everything cute- a little bit of a fox, a cat, a dog, and a little bit just “cute creature”. And I'm glad Gamefreak continued to ass new eeveelutions
